Newington Courthouse Preschool :
After getting the children settled into their daily classroom routine, it has—for the most part—been a delightful and successful first month of school. We are very pleased with the 13 three year olds and the 18 four year olds in our preschool programs; they are revved up and ready to meet any challenge that SCHOOL has to offer.
This will be an exciting month for the preschoolers as they are thinking about all the excite-ment and fun that will come their way during this season. In a few weeks the four year olds will take a trip to Belmont Pumpkin Farm in Mathews where they will see farm animals, play in the hay maze, try to make their way across the big rope net (not an easy task), and take a hayride out to the fields to find “the perfect pumpkin.” Also, the four year olds will study Safety and Transportation, Fire Prevention (October is Fire Prevention Month), blending primary colors to “see what color we get” and enjoy a “Dress as a Farmer Day” and Harvest Party.
Mrs. Dye and her three year olds will be working on colors, shapes, counting and working with different textures and the children will begin their introduction to the letters of the alphabet. This group will also have a harvest party and their own special “pumpkin hunt”.
Happy Harvest, everyone! Arleene R. Hawkins, Director
