My fall pumpkin is sitting on the doorstep and it is surrounded by the colorful leaves that are fall-ing like crazy; the squirrels are scampering around looking for anything they can find to hide for the cold weather months; and the air is cool and crisp. Alas, I think we can say that FALL is in full swing! Just think, in a few weeks it will be Thanksgiving and a few weeks after that, it will be Christmas (wa . . . hoo !) I will let you in on a little secret: I have already been going up and down aisles in stores looking at all the neat Christmas stuff . . . How great is this?
This month the children will be readying themselves for Thanksgiving with seasonal arts and crafts, a study of the “First Thanksgiving†and our Thanksgiving Celebrations. the four year olds will help prepare their food for this celebration and we will invite Pastor Mike and Miss Cathleen to the classroom to enjoy this special time with us. The three year olds will have their little celebration al-so, and knowing their teacher, Paula Dye, there will be lots and lots of pictures for viewing after-wards. All this—plus our regular classwork will make for a very hectic—but fun month.
November is also the month we will bring our “Sharing Baskets†into the classroom; the children will be encouraged (with parents’ permission, of course) to bring in canned and non-perishable food items and place them in the basket. The Sharing Baskets will remain in the classroom until Decem-ber 19th at which time the food products will be turned over to the Bread for Life Food Pantry.
Parent-teacher Conferences will also be held this month; we look forward to meeting with parents to discuss the progress their children have made thus far this school year.
Please continue to keep us in your prayers and we wish for each of you a very meaningful, safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving. Arleene R. Hawkins, Director
