Jonathan's background
Hello, my name is Jonathan Chase Barnette.
I was born in Charlotte, NC and I grew up in Cornelius just 20 miles North of Charlotte. My family was fortunate to live on Lake Norman so I love the water. I am one of two sons, the youngest.
After graduating from Hopewell High School in Huntersville North Carolina, I attended Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, NC where I majored in Religious Studies with a concentration in Youth Education. I graduated with my BA in 2008.
I met my wife, Teisha, at Gardner-Webb where she also attended and we have been married since May 2007. We now have a Beagle named, Chaco and we love being active as a family.
I came to know who Christ was at a young age, making a profession of faith when I was seven. I did not really understand fully the commitment I was making but I knew who Jesus was and what he had done for me. Most of all, I wanted to participate in the Lords Supper. As a young teenage boy, I came to understand that being saved was more than a phrase we used at church. I was convicted and felt God call me into a real, committed relationship with Christ. At 14 years old, I began to seek what it was to follow Jesus.
It is my desire to lead children and teenagers to a place where they too, want to seek what it truly is to follow Jesus.
Here at Newington I am responsible for the Children and Youth ministries.
