A Word From Pastor Jonathan
A Word from Pastor Jonathan:
Last month we had revival. Tuesday night Roger preached about God’s calling on our lives. He posed the question of whether we would live life on our terms or on God’s.
The reality of life is that all of us have walked according to our terms because that’s how we start life. As a Christian, our joy is that God’s spirit moved us to open our eyes to see the error of our terms and the beauty of His. Our terms lead to sin and sin leads to death and destruction. God’s terms led to life more abundant and free for eternity.
Once we agree to God’s terms, many times we forget to walk in them or we didn’t really understand them when we began to walk with Him. That’s okay. I think about it like a marriage. People begin with an expectation in mind and bring their own ideas into how it is going to be, realizing quickly that things are not always exactly what you expect. When we begin walking with the Lord, He give us His Spirit to teach us, guide us, and grow us into the godly men and women He wants us to be. We must be committed and surren-dered that as He shows us more and more what it is to follow, we do indeed, follow.
I remember as a teen, reading material put out by Southern Baptist. It was called THE TASK. It talked about living the lives God gave us to share His good news with others. The theme verse stuck in my mind and God used it to help me to come to the place where I wanted to live on His terms instead of mine.
The verse goes like this: “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
Live life on His terms…if we don’t, we are not really living at all.
